Alliannah Hamilton

I was born in Puerto Rico and raised in Virginia by military parents from southern Texas and southern California. At a young age, I discovered my passion for art, initially expressing it through poetry and photography. Driven by this passion, I pursued my dreams in higher education, receiving my Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Printmaking and Photo Media, with a minor in Film & Video Studies.

Following my college journey, I embarked on a fulfilling path as a full-time, multi-disciplinary artist. My overarching mission is to impart to the world the transformative power of art and expression in overcoming mental barriers, much like how I did myself. Over the years, I've been fortunate to showcase my work and engage in various projects across the mid-Atlantic region, spanning from Virginia to Maryland and Pennsylvania.

My artistic journey is driven by a deep motivation to continually evolve and expand my creative horizons. I embrace opportunities to explore diverse art forms and mediums which is a fulfilling quest that fuels my growth as an artist. My commitment to artistic development is evident in my active participation in artist workshops, residencies, exhibitions, and my engagement with esteemed organizations such as Art 180, Oakwood Arts in Richmond, VA, as well as Virginia Commonwealth University and Virginia Public Media. These experiences serve as catalysts for my ongoing artistic evolution. I am currently serving as a teaching artist as part of ART 180's Atlas Residency Program for high school students and am a Digital Communications Specialist in the Division of Community Engagement at VCU.
