Falling

Immersive Art Installation

Materials used: Astro Turf, Bathroom Rugs, Preserved Moss, Poly fill

created in 2021 and was on display at The Contemporary Arts Network in Newport News, VA during Echoes Around Corners and Moves through Walls Exhibition

"Falling" was created to give the viewer an alternate perspective. The shape of the room pulls you in making you feel as if you are falling. This feeling inspired the concept to create a view as if you are in the sky looking down to the land. Using turf, bathroom rugs, and various kinds of preserved moss, these materials were collaged together to mimic a landscape from a birds-eye view. Artificial clouds were made with poly fill and hung to mimic clouds. This installation allowed me to paint with materials keeping in mind how I wanted the landscape to feel and look: depth, and beautiful, but also uneasy.
