(The Mind's Eye)
_edited.jpg)
Astral Orgasm (aka The Mind’s Eye)" is a 36" x 48" mixed-media piece crafted from blue-dyed lichen and spray foam. Presented from a bird's eye view, it depicts a vulva-shaped lake surrounded by a surreal forest, evoking the astral realm—a meditative space of deep connection and transformation. The vibrant blue tones symbolize the ethereal nature of this otherworldly place, inspired by a profound vision where spiritual and sensual energies intertwined. This work serves as both an ode to Mother Earth and an exploration of the intimate connection between the physical, spiritual, and creative realms, inviting viewers to reflect on their own relationship with nature, self, and the unseen.

This piece has been exhibited at Assembly in Norfolk, VA (2022), 1708 Gallery in Richmond, VA (2023), and Art 180 in Richmond, VA (2024).

Eco Futurism

For the 3x2 Capsule series at 1708 Gallery in Richmond, VA, I created an installation that explores the theme of ‘Eco Futurism’ through the use of recycled materials.
Inspired by the idea that nature will inevitably reclaim what is left behind, I repurposed plastic fencing—a material both reminiscent of nature’s hues and symbolic of human impact on the environment.
The installation intertwines elements of duality, creating a morphing, camouflage-like landscape that evokes a pixelated aesthetic. This visual effect symbolizes the collision of the past, future, and the natural ecosystem, reflecting on the coexistence of environmental resilience and human influence. By using discarded materials, this work challenges viewers to consider their relationship with nature and the role of sustainability in shaping our future.
LImerence

Limerence" is an immersive installation and short film that explores the emotional complexities of catching feelings—when love and infatuation intertwine with anxiety and fear. Created in 2021 and exhibited at The Contemporary Arts Network in Newport News, VA, the installation visualizes the duality of vulnerability and obsession.
The piece features over 200 blue artificial butterflies suspended from the ceiling, symbolizing the exhilarating freedom of opening one’s heart. Emerging from the same vantage point, a shadow represented by cascading black tulle embodies the fear and emotional blockages that often accompany such feelings. This interplay of lightness and shadow captures the essence of longing, uncertainty, and the fragility of emotional connection.
Accompanying the installation is a self-portrait and a performance that was recorded and transformed into a short film. Layered with a recited poem also titled Limerence, the film delves deeper into the theme of emotional turbulence and was later featured at the 2022 Afrikana Film Festival in Richmond, VA. Through this multifaceted work, Limerence invites viewers to reflect on the beauty and complexity of human emotions.
OUr Lady, Unveiled

Our Lady, Unveiled" is a 24" x 30" mixed-media piece inspired by the story of Our Lady of Guadalupe, where a divine imprint appeared after flowers were gathered at her request. This piece reflects the symbolic connection between that narrative and my recurring theme of a lake shaped like a vulva, surrounded by a vibrant, natural landscape.
Crafted with spray foam and lichen, the work features a meticulously sculpted vulva at its center, surrounded by a rich palette of pinks, blues, oranges, and purples. A blue carpenter bee rests where the clitoris would be, symbolizing life, transformation, and divine presence. The interplay of bold colors and organic textures creates a sacred, spiritual energy, inviting viewers to explore themes of creation, femininity, and the natural world.
Exhibited at Raunjiba Design Center in Baltimore, MD, in 2022, Our Lady, Unveiled is available for purchase at $900.
Darkness of Soil, Lightness of SOul

Darkness of Soil, Lightness of Soul" is a collaborative art project and short film created during an intensive week-long workshop with photographer Alanna Airitam at Oakwood Arts in 2021. Together with a group of artists, we engaged in deep discussions about art, identity, and purpose, ultimately finding a shared vision that became the foundation of our project.
The work explores themes of growth, resilience, and the duality between grounding and transcendence, symbolized by the contrast between soil and soul. Through collaborative brainstorming, we crafted a poem that served as the narrative backbone for the project, weaving words and visuals into a cohesive artistic expression. The result was a short film that captures the essence of our shared creative journey.
This immersive experience highlighted the power of collective storytelling and the ability of art to connect and transform.
Just Be

Just Be" is a self-portrait installation and digital artwork (pictured above in the top left) that transforms an ordinary living room into a surreal bee hive. Created to reflect the personal power and spiritual elevation that accompany moments of growth, the piece captures me seated at the center of the hive, surrounded by bees flying. A single bee perched delicately on my fingertip symbolizes a profound connection with nature and the spiritual guidance it provides.
The installation speaks to the transformative energy of embracing life’s natural flow and the heightened awareness that comes with aligning oneself with the rhythms of the earth. By blending physical installation and digital manipulation, Just Be blurs the boundaries between reality and imagination, inviting viewers to explore themes of harmony, growth, and spiritual connection.
Exhibited at D'Art Center, a part of the Chrysler Museum in Norfolk, VA, this work is a testament to the journey of self-discovery and the powerful influence of nature on human experience.
Norfolk Shooting Star

Norfolk Shooting Star" is a 24" x 36" abstract painting created for the Kindred Art Project, inspired by the vibrant artistic and musical communities of Norfolk, VA.
This piece radiates energy and motion through its rich interplay of textures and colors. Bold strokes of fiery orange, vivid green, deep red, and hints of blue and yellow come together to evoke a dynamic sense of connection and creativity.
Layered with acrylic, oil paint, and pastels, the composition conveys the spontaneity and unity that define Norfolk’s cultural spirit. The vibrant palette and expressive strokes capture the feeling of a shooting star—a symbol of fleeting brilliance and the ongoing artistic evolution of the community.

Completed in 2023, Norfolk Shooting Star is now on display at Origin Circle Senior Living in the Kindred Community in Norfolk, VA.
Falling

"Falling" is an immersive installation that invites viewers to experience the sensation of being suspended between earth and sky. Created in 2021 for the Echoes Around Corners and Moves Through Walls exhibition at The Contemporary Arts Network in Newport News, VA, the piece transforms a uniquely shaped room into a visual and emotional journey.
The back wall, collaged with AstroTurf, bathroom rugs, and preserved moss, resembles a bird’s-eye view of a textured landscape. Artificial clouds made of poly fill hover overhead, completing the illusion of looking down at the earth from above. This interplay between the materials and the room’s shape evokes a sense of movement and disorientation, simulating the feeling of falling.
Through its layered textures and surreal perspective, Falling explores the beauty, depth, and unease of shifting viewpoints, inviting viewers to lose themselves in a moment of suspended reality.
BREAKING ROOTS

Breaking Roots" is a 36" x 48" mixed-media piece that continues the "lake in the middle of a forest" theme introduced in Astral Orgasm (The Mind’s Eye). In this iteration, the lake—shaped like a vulva—sits within a forest of rich reds and warm tones, evoking the essence of Fall. The vibrant colors and textures create a world that reflects both beauty and decay, inviting viewers to explore themes of transformation and loss.
Using recycled and symbolic materials such as a Gucci boot, Jordan Air Force 1, a g-string underwear, hand-picked cotton, and a 3D-printed heart pierced by a dagger (positioned where the clitoris would be), the piece delves into the roots of heartbreak. It reflects on the generational trauma of slavery and its enduring effects on love, relationships, and identity within your culture.
Exhibited at Assembly in Norfolk, VA, Breaking Roots is a striking exploration of the intersections between personal and collective pain, resilience, and the landscapes of the heart.
My connection to nature intervenes, it is in control

My Connection to Nature Intervenes, It Is in Control" is a 19-foot installation created for the Contemporary Arts Network’s CAN FEST, In Conjunction, at AssemblyNFK in Norfolk, VA, in September 2022. Covering a vast wall with AstroTurf and featuring an antique green door entwined with vines, the piece symbolizes the profound relationship between nature, connection, and the art of letting go.
This work draws inspiration from the relentless way nature reclaims what is abandoned, like a door left in the heart of the forest, slowly overtaken by moss. This phenomenon became a metaphor for the divine intervention I feel when doors close on connections that are not meant for me. The vines creeping over the door embody the process of release and renewal, where nature steps in to take control, clearing paths for growth.
Adorning the door with painted paper, fabric, and donated clothing, the installation represents the interconnected roots of life and relationships. The culmination of the piece involved a live performance in which I carved the words "I CAN LOVE" into the door—a powerful act of self-discovery and affirmation of my capacity to love unconditionally, free from expectations and limitations.
This installation invites viewers to reflect on the beauty of nature’s reclamation and the lessons it teaches us about release, renewal, and resilience.
Black Spirituals

Black Spirituals" was an immersive theatrical experience held at The Contemporary Arts Network in 2021, weaving a futuristic, multi-sensory narrative that explored themes of systemic oppression, reparations, and the cyclical nature of history. The story followed the tragic journey of a young Black boy who loses his mind and life on the day Black people receive reparations in the distant future.
Guided by a white escort, guests were taken through various scenes that examined race, power, and identity: a forest encounter with a shaman, a city confrontation with a "Karen," harassment by a police officer, and a nightclub where the boy was given the drugs that led to his death. The experience continued through a visceral funeral, a robbery and shootout, an unsettling human auction, and culminated with guests transported back in time to the era of slavery—revealing how history repeats itself in profound ways.
As a collaborator, I contributed to this groundbreaking production by performing aerial yoga and helping design immersive, evocative sets that brought the story's powerful themes to life. The production invited audiences to reflect deeply on the past, present, and future of racial injustice and humanity’s role in shaping these narratives.
